Deuteronomy 28:37

And thou shall become an astonishment
To neighbouring nations, that shall hear of their overthrow and captivity, and that shall see the miserable condition they are brought into:

a proverb and a byword among all nations whither the Lord shall lead
thee;
both for the wickedness committed by them, and for the ill usage of them by the nations among whom they should be, as they were in the Babylonish captivity; see ( Jeremiah 24:9 ) ; and now are, it being common to say,

``do you think I am a Jew?''

or,

``none but a Jew would have done such a thing.''

35 Te herirá el SEÑOR en las rodillas y en las piernas con pústulas malignas de las que no podrás ser sanado, desde la planta de tu pie hasta la coronilla.
36 El SEÑOR te llevará a ti y a tu rey, al que hayas puesto sobre ti, a una nación que ni tú ni tus padres habéis conocido, y allí servirás a otros dioses de madera y de piedra.
37 Y vendrás a ser motivo de horror, proverbio y burla entre todos los pueblos donde el SEÑOR te lleve.
38 Sacarás mucha semilla al campo, pero recogerás poco, porque la langosta la devorará.
39 Plantarás y cultivarás viñas, pero no beberás del vino ni recogerás las uvas, porque el gusano se las comerá.
