Génesis 3:4-14

4 Y la serpiente dijo a la mujer: Ciertamente no moriréis.

5 Pues Dios sabe que el día que de él comáis, serán abiertos vuestros ojos y seréis como Dios, conociendo el bien y el mal.

6 Cuando la mujer vio que el árbol era bueno para comer, y que era agradable a los ojos, y que el árbol era deseable para alcanzar sabiduría, tomó de su fruto y comió; y dio también a su marido que estaba con ella, y él comió.

7 Entonces fueron abiertos los ojos de ambos, y conocieron que estaban desnudos; y cosieron hojas de higuera y se hicieron delantales.

8 Y oyeron al SEÑOR Dios que se paseaba en el huerto al fresco del día; y el hombre y su mujer se escondieron de la presencia del SEÑOR Dios entre los árboles del huerto.

9 Y el SEÑOR Dios llamó al hombre, y le dijo: ¿Dónde estás?

10 Y él respondió: Te oí en el huerto, y tuve miedo porque estaba desnudo, y me escondí.

11 Y Dios le dijo: ¿Quién te ha hecho saber que estabas desnudo? ¿Has comido del árbol del cual te mandé que no comieras?

12 Y el hombre respondió: La mujer que tú me diste por compañera me dio del árbol, y yo comí.

13 Entonces el SEÑOR Dios dijo a la mujer: ¿Qué es esto que has hecho? Y la mujer respondió: La serpiente me engañó, y yo comí.

14 Y el SEÑOR Dios dijo a la serpiente: Por cuanto has hecho esto, maldita serás más que todos los animales, y más que todas las bestias del campo; sobre tu vientre andarás, y polvo comerás todos los días de tu vida.

INTRODUCTION TO GENESIS 3

In this chapter an account is given of the temptation of our first parents, of the instrument of it, and of their fall into it, and of the effect of it, Ge 3:1-7 their summons upon it to appear before God, against whom they had sinned, Ge 3:8-10 their examination by him, and the excuses they made, Ge 3:11-13 the various sentences passed of the serpent, the woman, and the man, Ge 3:14-19 some incidental things recorded, expressive of faith and hope in man, and of favour to him, Ge 3:20,21 and his expulsion from the garden of Eden, Ge 3:22-24.
