Génesis 30:1-24

1 Pero viendo Raquel que ella no daba hijos a Jacob, tuvo celos de su hermana, y dijo a Jacob: Dame hijos, o si no, me muero.

2 Entonces se encendió la ira de Jacob contra Raquel, y dijo: ¿Estoy yo en lugar de Dios, que te ha negado el fruto de tu vientre?

3 Y ella dijo: Aquí está mi sierva Bilha; llégate a ella para que dé a luz sobre mis rodillas, para que por medio de ella yo también tenga hijos.

4 Y le dio a su sierva Bilha por mujer, y Jacob se llegó a ella.

5 Bilha concibió y dio a luz un hijo a Jacob.

6 Y Raquel dijo: Dios me ha vindicado; ciertamente ha oído mi voz y me ha dado un hijo. Por tanto le puso por nombre Dan .

7 Concibió otra vez Bilha, sierva de Raquel, y dio a luz un segundo hijo a Jacob.

8 Y Raquel dijo: Con grandes luchas he luchado con mi hermana, y ciertamente he prevalecido. Y le puso por nombre Neftalí .

9 Viendo Lea que había dejado de dar a luz, tomó a su sierva Zilpa y la dio por mujer a Jacob.

10 Y Zilpa, sierva de Lea, dio a luz un hijo a Jacob.

11 Y Lea dijo: ¡Cuán afortunada! Y le puso por nombre Gad .

12 Después Zilpa, sierva de Lea, dio a luz un segundo hijo a Jacob.

13 Y Lea dijo: Dichosa de mí; porque las mujeres me llamarán bienaventurada. Y le puso por nombre Aser .

14 Fue Rubén en los días de la cosecha de trigo, y halló mandrágoras en el campo, y las trajo a su madre Lea. Entonces Raquel dijo a Lea: Dame, te ruego, de las mandrágoras de tu hijo.

15 Pero ella le respondió: ¿Te parece poco haberme quitado el marido? ¿Me quitarás también las mandrágoras de mi hijo? Y Raquel dijo: Que él duerma, pues, contigo esta noche a cambio de las mandrágoras de tu hijo.

16 Y cuando Jacob vino del campo por la tarde, Lea salió a su encuentro y le dijo: Debes llegarte a mí, porque ciertamente te he alquilado por las mandrágoras de mi hijo. Y él durmió con ella aquella noche.

17 Escuchó Dios a Lea, y ella concibió, y dio a luz el quinto hijo a Jacob.

18 Y Lea dijo: Dios me ha dado mi recompensa porque di mi sierva a mi marido. Y le puso por nombre Isacar .

19 Concibió Lea otra vez y dio a luz el sexto hijo a Jacob.

20 Y Lea dijo: Dios me ha favorecido con una buena dote; ahora mi marido vivirá conmigo, porque le he dado seis hijos. Y le puso por nombre Zabulón .

21 Después dio a luz una hija, y le puso por nombre Dina.

22 Entonces Dios se acordó de Raquel; y Dios la escuchó y le concedió hijos.

23 Y ella concibió y dio a luz un hijo, y dijo: Dios ha quitado mi afrenta.

24 Y le puso por nombre José , diciendo: Que el SEÑOR me añada otro hijo.

INTRODUCTION TO GENESIS 30

This chapter gives an account of Rachel's envy of her sister for her fruitfulness, and of her earnest desire of having children, which she expressed to Jacob in an unbecoming manner, for which he reproved her, Ge 30:1,2, of her giving her maid Bilhah to Jacob, by whom he had two sons, Dan and Naphtali, Ge 30:3-8; and of Leah's giving her maid Zilpah to him, by whom he had two other sons, Gad and Asher, Ge 30:9-13; and of Reuben's mandrakes he found in the field, and the agreement made between Rachel and Leah about them, Ge 30:14-16; and of Leah's bearing Jacob two more sons and one daughter, Ge 30:17-21, and of Rachel's also bearing him a son, whose name was Joseph, Ge 30:22-24; upon which he desires leave of Laban to depart into his own country, his time of servitude being up, Ge 30:25,26; which brought on a new agreement between him and Laban, that for the future he should have all the speckled, spotted, and brown cattle for his service, Ge 30:27-36; and the chapter is concluded with an account of a cunning scheme of Jacob's to increase that sort of cattle, which succeeded, and by which he became rich, Ge 30:37-43.
