Génesis 36:1-11

1 Estas son las generaciones de Esaú, es decir, Edom.

2 Esaú tomó sus mujeres de las hijas de Canaán: a Ada, hija de Elón heteo; a Aholibama, hija de Aná y nieta de Zibeón heveo;

3 y a Basemat, hija de Ismael, hermana de Nebaiot.

4 Ada dio a luz a Elifaz para Esaú; y Basemat dio a luz a Reuel.

5 Y Aholibama dio a luz a Jeús, a Jaalam y a Coré. Estos son los hijos que le nacieron a Esaú en la tierra de Canaán.

6 Entonces Esaú tomó a sus mujeres, sus hijos y sus hijas y todas las personas de su casa, y su ganado y todas sus bestias, y todos los bienes que había acumulado en la tierra de Canaán, y se fue a otra tierra lejos de su hermano Jacob.

7 Porque los bienes de ellos habían llegado a ser tantos que no podían habitar juntos, y la tierra en que moraban no podía sostenerlos a causa de su mucho ganado.

8 Y habitó Esaú en la región montañosa de Seir; Esaú es Edom.

9 Estas son las generaciones de Esaú, padre de los edomitas, en la región montañosa de Seir.

10 Estos son los nombres de los hijos de Esaú: Elifaz, hijo de Ada, mujer de Esaú, y Reuel, hijo de Basemat, mujer de Esaú.

11 Y los hijos de Elifaz fueron Temán, Omar, Zefo, Gatam y Cenaz.

Génesis 36:1-11 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO GENESIS 36

This chapter gives us a genealogical account of Esau's family, of his wives and sons, with whom he removed from Seir, Ge 36:1-10; of his sons' sons, or grandsons, who were dukes in the land of Edom, Ge 36:11-19; after which is inserted a genealogy of Seir the Horite, into whose family Esau married, and of his children, and the dukes among them, Ge 36:20-30; then follows a list of the kings of Edom, before there were any in Israel, Ge 36:31-39; and the chapter is closed with a brief narration of the dukes of Esau, according to their families, Ge 36:40-43.
