Juan 5:8 Meaning and Commentary

John 5:8

Jesus saith to him, rise
From thy bed, or couch, on which he lay in one of the porches: and

take up thy bed and walk;
these words were spoken by the same power, as those to Lazarus, which called him out of his grave; as appears from the effect they had upon the man, who was in himself impotent, weak, and helpless.

6 Cuando Jesús lo vio acostado allí y supo que ya llevaba mucho tiempo en aquella condición, le dijo<***>: ¿Quieres ser sano?
7 El enfermo le respondió: Señor, no tengo a nadie que me meta en el estanque cuando el agua es agitada; y mientras yo llego, otro baja antes que yo.
8 Jesús le dijo<***>: Levántate, toma tu camilla y anda.
9 Y al instante el hombre quedó sano, y tomó su camilla y echó a andar. Y aquel día era día de reposo.
10 Por eso los judíos decían al que fue sanado: Es día de reposo, y no te es permitido cargar tu camilla.
