Jeremiah 3:10

Listen to Jeremiah 3:10
10 Yet even after all this, disloyal sister Judah didn't return to me with all her heart but only insincerely, declares the LORD.

Jeremiah 3:10 Meaning and Commentary

Jeremiah 3:10

And yet for all this
Though the two tribes saw the lightness and filthiness of the sin Israel was guilty of, and how the land was defiled with it, the stupidity of it, and the punishment inflicted on account of it: her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole
heart, but feignedly, saith the Lord;
there was a show of reformation in Josiah's time, but it was but a show; there was no true, hearty cordial repentance for the sin of idolatry, only a feigned one; there was an outward removal of it, and reformation from it, but inwardly the desires of the heart were to it; the good king, with some few others, were hearty in it, but the greater part played the hypocrite; the following reigns proved the truth of this.

Jeremiah 3:10 In-Context

8 She also saw that I sent unfaithful Israel away with divorce papers because of all her acts of unfaithfulness; yet disloyal sister Judah was not afraid but kept on playing the prostitute.
9 She didn't think twice about corrupting the land and committing adultery with stone and tree.
10 Yet even after all this, disloyal sister Judah didn't return to me with all her heart but only insincerely, declares the LORD.
11 Then the LORD said to me: Unfaithful Israel is less guilty than disloyal Judah.
12 Go proclaim these words to the north and say: Return, unfaithful Israel, declares the LORD. I won't reject you, for I'm faithful, declares the LORD; I won't stay angry forever.
