Luke 22:64

64 They blindfolded him and asked him repeatedly, "Prophesy! Who hit you?"

Luke 22:64 Meaning and Commentary

Luke 22:64

And when they had blindfolded him
Or put a veil, or linen cloth over his eyes, as children do at play, to make themselves some sport with him:

they struck him on the face;
on that part of it which was not covered, either with their hands, or with rods:

and asked him, saying, prophesy, who is it that smote thee?
hereby deriding his prophetic office, and using such language as children do at blindman's buff; (See Gill on Matthew 26:68).

Luke 22:64 In-Context

62 And Peter went out and cried uncontrollably.
63 The men who were holding Jesus in custody taunted him while they beat him.
64 They blindfolded him and asked him repeatedly, "Prophesy! Who hit you?"
65 Insulting him, they said many other horrible things against him.
66 As morning came, the elders of the people, both chief priests and legal experts, came together, and Jesus was brought before their council.
