11 “The fig tree replied to them, ‘Should I stop producing my sweetness and my delicious fruit, so that I can go to sway over the trees?'

Judges 9:11

And the fig tree said unto them
Rejecting the offer made:

should I forsake my sweetness and my good fruit;
for such the fruit of the fig tree is, sweet and good: so Julian F4 the emperor shows from various authors, Aristophanes, Herodotus, and Homer, that nothing is sweeter than figs, excepting honey, and that no kind of fruit is better, and, where they are, no good is wanting:

and go to be promoted over the trees?
the same is designed by this as the former.

10 “So the trees said to the fig tree, ‘You come and be king over us!'
11 “The fig tree replied to them, ‘Should I stop producing my sweetness and my delicious fruit, so that I can go to sway over the trees?'
12 “Then the trees said to the vine, ‘You come and be king over us!'
13 “But the vine replied to them, ‘Should I stop providing my wine that makes gods and humans happy, so that I can go to sway over the trees?'
