Genesis 25:5

5 Avraham gave everything he owned to Yitz'chak.

Genesis 25:5 Meaning and Commentary

Genesis 25:5

And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.
] By his last will and testament; not all out of his own hand, while he lived, at least he reserved somewhat for himself, and for gifts to his other children; so his servant declared to the parents and friends of Rebekah, ( Genesis 24:35 ) ; wherefore some render the words here "had given" F4; or the sense is, that he had at that time purposed and promised to give all that he had to Isaac, and now he actually did it.

Genesis 25:5 In-Context

3 Yokshan fathered Sh'va and D'dan. The sons of D'dan were Ashurim, L'tushim and L'umim.
4 The sons of Midyan were 'Eifah, 'Efer, Hanokh, Avida and Elda'ah. All these were descendants of K'turah.
5 Avraham gave everything he owned to Yitz'chak.
6 But to the sons of the concubines he made grants while he was still living and sent them off to the east, to the land of Kedem, away from Yitz'chak his son.
7 This is how long Avraham lived: 175 years.
