Jeremiah 30:22

22 "You will be my people, and I will be your God."

Jeremiah 30:22 Meaning and Commentary

Jeremiah 30:22

And ye shall be my people
For many hundred years the people of the Jews have been called "Loammi" or, "ye are not my people", ( Hosea 1:9 ) ; but now being converted, the covenant of God's grace shall be renewed, and a fresh manifestation and application of it made unto them; and they partaking of the grace of it, shall appear to be, and shall be, called the people of God, and shall behave as such, and fear and worship the Lord: and I will be your God;
will manifest his love to them, bestow his favours upon them, and take them under his care and protection. This is a summary of the covenant of grace, which will visibly take place when those people shall turn to the Lord, ( Romans 11:26 Romans 11:27 ) .

Jeremiah 30:22 In-Context

20 Their children will be as they used to be, their community confirmed in my presence; and I will punish everyone who oppresses them.
21 Their leader will be one of their own, their ruler will come from among them. I will cause him to come close and let him approach me; for, otherwise, who would guarantee his heart enough to approach me?" says ADONAI.
22 "You will be my people, and I will be your God."
23 Look! The storm of ADONAI, bursting out in fury, a sweeping storm, whirling down upon the heads of the wicked!
24 ADONAI's fierce anger will not abate till he accomplishes the purpose in his heart. In the acharit-hayamim, you will understand.
