Psalms 44:13

13 You make us an object for our neighbors to mock, one of scorn and derision to those around us.

Psalms 44:13 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 44:13

Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours
Which is the common lot of Christians: Christ and his apostles have given reason for the saints in all ages to expect it, and have fortified their minds to bear it patiently, yea, to esteem it an honour, and greater riches than the treasures of the antichristian Egypt; a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us;
being always represented as mean and despicable, and reckoned ignorant and accursed, and as the faith of the world, and the offscouring of all things.

Psalms 44:13 In-Context

11 You have handed us over like sheep to be eaten and scattered us among the nations.
12 You sell your people for a pittance, you don't even profit on the sale.
13 You make us an object for our neighbors to mock, one of scorn and derision to those around us.
14 You make us a byword among the nations; the peoples jeer at us, shaking their heads.
15 All day long my disgrace is on my mind, and shame has covered my face
