2 John - Introduction

INTRODUCTION

This letter was written by the elder. Most Bible scholars believe that the Apostle John wrote this letter. The letter was written near the end of the first century A.D., at about the same time that John’s first letter was written.

This letter is addressed to the chosen lady and her children (verse 1). It is not known who this woman was. Some think that the word lady here actually refers to the church, and that the word children refers to believers in the church. But it is not certain if this is John’s meaning or not.
