Thus the book of Daniel is a powerful testimony to the greatness of Israel’s God. Even when His people were in a foreign land, God was with them. Today also, believers in Christ are, in a sense, living in a “foreign land”; they are “strangers” in the world (Hebrews 11:9,13; 1 Peter 1:1,17). By his FAITH and by his prayers, Daniel has shown us how to live as strangers in a hostile world and at the same time bring honor and glory to God.
It should be noted that Chapters 2–7 are written in the Aramaic language, while the other chapters are written in Hebrew (as is the rest of the Old Testament). Daniel would have been fluent in both languages. Aramaic was the international language of Daniel’s day, and Daniel particularly wanted his account of God’s miracles to be read by all people.
