12:6-8 These verses teach that God benevolently disciplines his children just like any father who loves his children would do. If any professing child of God does not experience such correction, then he has an unregenerate heart and is not genuinely born of God. This teaching is in keeping with Pr 3:12 (cited in Heb 12:6). Further, Heb 12:10 teaches that God disciplines his children for their good, so they may share in his holiness.
