Ps 47 The writer celebrates the kingship of Yahweh. The language of this and other so-called “enthronement psalms” (Pss 93–98) indicates that the passage is eschatological; it will be fulfilled at the coming of the Lord in judgment (see “the day of the LORD” in the prophecies of Joel and Amos). He will reign as the great King over all the earth (Mal 1:11,14).
