That believeth (pisth). "Believing woman." Hath widows (ecei chra). The "any believing woman" is one of the household-rulers of verse Matthew 14 . The "widows" here are the widows dependent on her and who are considered as candidates to be enrolled in the list. Let her relieve them (eparkeitw autai). For this verb (imperative present active) see verse Matthew 10 . Let not be burdened (mh bareisqw). Present passive imperative (in prohibition mh) of barew, old verb (baro, burden), Pauline word ( 2 Corinthians 1:8 ). That are widows indeed (tai ontw chrai). Dative case with eparkesh (first aorist active subjunctive with ina, final clause). See verse 2 Corinthians 3 for this use of ontw with chrai "the qualified and enrolled widows."
