Luke 7:44

Turning (strapei). Second aorist passive participle. Seest thou (blepei). For the first time Jesus looks at the woman and he asks the Pharisee to look at her. She was behind Jesus. Jesus was an invited guest. The Pharisee had neglected some points of customary hospitality. The contrasts here made have the rhythm of Hebrew poetry. In each contrast the first word is the point of defect in Simon: water (44), kiss (45), oil (46).
