Oftentimes I purposed (pollaki proeqemhn). Second aorist middle of protiqhmi, old verb to place, to propose to oneself, in N.T. only here, 1 Thessalonians 3:25 ; Ephesians 1:9 . See Acts 19:21 for this purpose. And was hindered (kai ekwluqhn). "But was hindered," adversative use of kai. That I might have some fruit (ina tina karpon scw). Second aorist (ingressive), active of ecw, to have, and here means "might get (ingressive aorist) some fruit."
