Psalms 69:24

24 Pour out Your rage on them, and let Your burning anger overtake them.

Psalms 69:24 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 69:24

Pour out thine indignation upon them
Not a few drops of it only, but a flood of it, sweeping away and bearing down all before it; which was done when wrath came upon them to the uttermost, in the destruction of their city, temple, and nation, ( 1 Thessalonians 2:16 ) ;

let thy wrathful anger take hold of them;
follow after them, overtake them, seize upon them, and hold them fast, that they may not escape. It denotes the severity of God towards them; the fierceness and fury of his wrath upon them; and that their destruction would be inevitable, and an entire and utter one.

Psalms 69:24 In-Context

22 Let their table set before them be a snare, and let it be a trap for [their] allies.
23 Let their eyes grow too dim to see, and let their loins continually shake.
24 Pour out Your rage on them, and let Your burning anger overtake them.
25 Make their fortification desolate; may no one live in their tents.
26 For they persecute the one You struck and talk about the pain of those You wounded.
