And many other thing's
Relating to the person and office of the Messiah, to the nature of his kingdom, the Gospel dispensation, and to faith in him; for he pointed him out to the people, and exhorted them to believe in him, and expressed much joy and pleasure on the hearing of his success and increase; and these, with others beside, in his "exhortation", or whilst he was

exhorting,
or "comforting", preached he unto the people:
publishing the Gospel, the good news, and glad tidings of the Messiah's being come, and of life, righteousness, and salvation by him.

16 約 翰 說 ： 我 是 用 水 給 你 們 施 洗 ， 但 有 一 位 能 力 比 我 更 大 的 要 來 ， 我 就 是 給 他 解 鞋 帶 也 不 配 。 他 要 用 聖 靈 與 火 給 你 們 施 洗 。

17 他 手 裡 拿 著 簸 箕 ， 要 揚 淨 他 的 場 ， 把 麥 子 收 在 倉 裡 ， 把 糠 用 不 滅 的 火 燒 盡 了 。

18 約 翰 又 用 許 多 別 的 話 勸 百 姓 ， 向 他 們 傳 福 音 。

19 只 是 分 封 的 王 希 律 ， 因 他 兄 弟 之 妻 希 羅 底 的 緣 故 ， 並 因 他 所 行 的 一 切 惡 事 ， 受 了 約 翰 的 責 備 ；

20 又 另 外 添 了 一 件 ， 就 是 把 約 翰 收 在 監 裡 。
