20 約 押 對 他 說 ： 你 今 日 不 可 去 報 信 ， 改 日 可 以 報 信 ； 因 為 今 日 王 的 兒 子 死 了 ， 所 以 你 不 可 去 報 信 。

2 Samuel 18:20

And Joab said unto him, thou shall not bear tidings this day,
&c.] Because Joab knew the tidings of Absalom's death would not be acceptable to the king; and Ahimaaz being a good man, and the son of a priest, for whom Joab had a respect, he would not send the tidings by him, which he was sensible would not recommend him to the king:

but thou shalt bear tidings another day;
when any salvation is wrought, or victory obtained, the tidings of which will be welcome:

but this day thou shall bear no tidings, because the king's son is
dead;
and thou must carry the news concerning his death, which it is not proper thou shouldest, being a priest, nor will it be to thine advantage.

18 押 沙 龍 活 著 的 時 候 ， 在 王 谷 立 了 一 根 石 柱 ， 因 他 說 ： 我 沒 有 兒 子 為 我 留 名 。 他 就 以 自 己 的 名 稱 那 石 柱 叫 押 沙 龍 柱 ， 直 到 今 日 。

19 撒 督 的 兒 子 亞 希 瑪 斯 說 ： 容 我 跑 去 ， 將 耶 和 華 向 仇 敵 給 王 報 仇 的 信 息 報 與 王 知 。

20 約 押 對 他 說 ： 你 今 日 不 可 去 報 信 ， 改 日 可 以 報 信 ； 因 為 今 日 王 的 兒 子 死 了 ， 所 以 你 不 可 去 報 信 。

21 約 押 對 古 示 人 說 ： 你 去 將 你 所 看 見 的 告 訴 王 。 古 示 人 在 約 押 面 前 下 拜 ， 就 跑 去 了 。

22 撒 督 的 兒 子 亞 希 瑪 斯 又 對 約 押 說 ： 無 論 怎 樣 ， 求 你 容 我 隨 著 古 示 人 跑 去 。 約 押 說 ： 我 兒 ， 你 報 這 信 息 ， 既 不 得 賞 賜 ， 何 必 要 跑 去 呢 ？
