1 Yàbǐyǎ yǔ tā lièzǔ tóng shuì , zàng zaì Dàwèi chéng lǐ . tā érzi Yàsā jiēxù tā zuò wáng . Yàsā nián jiān , guó zhōng taìpíng shí nián .

2 Yàsā xíng Yēhéhuá tā shén yǎn zhōng kàn wéi shàn wèi zhēng de shì ,

3 Chúdiào waì bāng shén de tán hé qiū tán , dá suì zhù xiàng , kǎn xià mùǒu ,

4 Fēnfu Yóudà rén xúnqiú Yēhéhuá tāmen lièzǔ de shén , zūnxíng tāde lǜfǎ , jièmìng .

5 Yòu zaì Yóudà gè chéngyì chúdiào qiū tán hé rì xiàng , nàshí guó xiǎng taìpíng .

6 Yòu zaì Yóudà jiànzào le jǐ zuò jiāngù chéng . guó zhōng taìpíng shǔ nián , méiyǒu zhàn zhēng , yīnwei Yēhéhuá cì tā píngān .

7 Tā duì Yóudà rén shuō , wǒmen yào jiànzào zhèxie chéngyì , sìwéi zhú qiáng , gaì lóu , ān mén , zuò shuān . dì hái shǔ wǒmen , shì yīn xúnqiú Yēhéhuá wǒmen de shén . wǒmen jì xúnqiú tā , tā jiù cì wǒmen sì jìng píngān . yúshì jiànzào chéngyì , zhū shì hēng tōng .

8 Yàsā de jūn bīng , chū zì Yóudà ná dùnpái ná qiāng de sān shí wàn rén . chū zì Biànyǎmǐn ná dùnpái là gōng de èr shí bā wàn rén . zhè dōu shì dà néng de yǒng shì .

9 Yǒu Gǔshí wáng Xièlā shuaìlǐng jūn bīng yī bǎi wàn , zhàn chē sān bǎi liàng , chūlai gōngjī Yóudà rén , dào le Mǎlìshā .

10 Yúshì Yàsā chū qù yǔ tā yíng dí , jiù zaì Mǎlìshā de xǐ fǎ gǔ bǐcǐ bǎi zhèn .

11 Yàsā hū qiú Yēhéhuá tāde shén shuō , Yēhéhuá a , wéiyǒu nǐ néng bāngzhu ruǎnfuò de , shēng guō qiángshèng de . Yēhéhuá wǒmen de shén a , qiú nǐ bāngzhu wǒmen . yīnwei wǒmen yǎng laì nǐ , fèng nǐde míng lái gōngjī zhè dà jūn . Yēhéhuá a , nǐ shì wǒmen de shén , búyào róng rén shēng guō nǐ .

12 Yúshì Yēhéhuá shǐ Gǔshí rén baì zaì Yàsā hé Yóudà rén miànqián , Gǔshí rén jiù taópǎo le .

13 Yàsā hé gēnsuí tāde jūn bīng zhuīgǎn tāmen , zhídào Jīlāĕr . Gǔshí rén beì shā de shèn duō , bùnéng zaì qiángshèng , yīnwei baì zaì Yēhéhuá yǔ tā jūn bīng miànqián . Yóudà rén jiù duó le xǔduō cáiwù ,

Lìdaìzhìxià 14 Commentary

Chapter 14

Asa's piety, He strengthens his kingdom.

- Asa aimed at pleasing God, and studied to approve himself to him. Happy those that walk by this rule, not to do that which is right in their own eyes, or in the eye of the world, but which is so in God's sight. We find by experience that it is good to seek the Lord; it gives us rest; while we pursue the world, we meet with nothing but vexation. Asa consulted with his people how to make a good use of the peace they enjoyed; and concluded with them that they must not be idle, nor secure. A formidable army of Ethiopians invaded Asa's kingdom. This evil came upon them, that their faith in God might be tried. Asa's prayer is short, but it is the real language of faith and expectation from God. When we go forth in God's name, we cannot but prosper, and all things work together for the good of those whom he favours.

INTRODUCTION TO 2 CHRONICLES 14

This chapter relates the death of Abijah, and the succession of Asa in his stead, 2Ch 14:1, gives a good character of the latter for his reformation in religion, and for the care he took for the safety and protection of his subjects, 2Ch 14:2-8, and an account is given of a large army of Ethiopians that came against him, over whom he crying to the Lord, and trusting in him, by his help obtained a complete victory, 2Ch 14:9-15.
