Shēnméngjì 19

1 Yēhéhuá nǐ shén jiāng liè guó zhī mín jiǎnchú de shíhou , Yēhéhuá nǐ shén yĕ jiāng tāmende dì cìgĕi nǐ , nǐ jiē zhe zhù tāmende chéngyì bìng tāmende fángwū ,

2 Jiù yào zaì Yēhéhuá nǐ shén suǒ cì nǐ wéi yè de dì shàng fēn déng sān zuò chéng .

3 Yào jiāng Yēhéhuá nǐ shén shǐ nǐ chéngshòu wéi yè de dì fēn wéi sān duàn . yòu yào yùbeì dàolù , shǐ wù shārén de , dōu kĕyǐ taó dào nàli qù .

4 Wù shārén de taó dào nàli kĕyǐ cún huó , dénglì nǎi shì zhèyàng , fán sù wú chóuhèn , wú xīn shā le rén de ,

5 Jiù rú rén yǔ línshè tóng rù shùlín kǎn fá shùmù , shǒu ná fǔzi yī kǎn , bĕn xiǎng kǎn xià shùmù , búliào , fǔ tóu tuō le bǎ , fēi luō zaì línshè shēnshang , yǐzhì yú sǐ , zhè rén taó dào nàxiē chéng de yī zuò chéng , jiù kĕyǐ cún huó ,

6 Miǎndé bào xuè qiú de , xīn zhōng huǒ rè zhuīgǎn tā , yīn lù yuǎn jiù zhuī shàng , jiāng tā shā sǐ . qíshí tā bú gāisǐ , yīnwei tā yǔ beì shā de sù wú chóuhèn .

7 Suǒyǐ wǒ fēnfu nǐ shuō , yào fèn déng sān zuò chéng .

8 Yēhéhuá nǐ shén ruò zhào tā xiàng nǐ lièzǔ suǒ qǐ de shì kuòzhāng nǐde jìngjiè , jiāng suǒ yīngxǔ cì nǐ lièzǔ de dì quán rán gĕi nǐ ,

9 Nǐ ruò jǐn shǒu zūnxíng wǒ jīnrì suǒ fēnfu de zhè yīqiè jièmìng , aì Yēhéhuá nǐde shén , chángcháng zūnxíng tāde dào , jiù yào zaì zhè sān zuò chéng zhī waì , zaì tiān sān zuò chéng ,

10 Miǎndé wúgū zhī rén de xuè liú zaì Yēhéhuá nǐ shén suǒ cì nǐ wéi yè de dì shàng , liúxuè de zuì jiù guīyú nǐ .

11 Ruò yǒu rén hèn tāde línshè , máifu zhe qǐlai jī shā tā , yǐzhì yú sǐ , biàn taó dào zhèxie chéng de yī zuò chéng ,

12 Bĕn chéng de zhǎnglǎo jiù yào dǎfa rén qù , cóng nàli daì chū tā lái , jiāo zaì bào xuè qiú de shǒu zhōng , jiāng tā zhìsǐ .

13 Nǐ yǎn bùkĕ gù xī tā , què yào cóng Yǐsèliè zhōng chúdiào liú wúgū xuè de zuì , shǐ nǐ kĕYǐde fú .

14 Zaì Yēhéhuá nǐ shén suǒ cì nǐ chéngshòu wéi yè zhī dì , bùkĕ nuó yí nǐ línshè de dì jiè , nà shì xiān rén suǒ déng de .

15 Rén wúlùn fàn shénme zuì , zuò shénme è , bùkĕ píng yī gèrén de kǒu zuò jiànzhèng , zǒng yào píng liǎng sān gèrén de kǒu zuò jiànzhèng cái kè déng àn .

16 Ruò yǒu xiōngè de jiànzhèng rén qǐlai , jiànzhèng mǒu rén zuò è ,

17 Zhè liǎng gè zhēng sòng de rén jiù yào zhàn zaì Yēhéhuá miànqián , hé dāngshí de jìsī , bìng shĕnpàn guān miànqián ,

18 Shĕnpàn guān yào xì xì dì chá jiū , ruò jiànzhèng rén guǒrán shì zuò jiǎ jiànzhèng de , yǐ jiǎ jiànzhèng xiànhaì dìxiōng ,

19 Nǐmen jiù yào daì tā rútóng tā xiǎng yào daì de dìxiōng . zhèyàng , jiù bǎ nà è cóng nǐmen zhōngjiān chúdiào .

20 Biérén tīngjian dōu yào haìpà , jiù bú gǎn zaì nǐmen zhōngjiān zaì xíng zhèyàng de è le .

21 Nǐ yǎn bùkĕ gù xī , yào yǐ méng cháng méng , yǐ yǎn hái yǎn , yǐ yá hái yá , yǐ shǒu hái shǒu , yǐ jiǎo hái jiǎo .

Shēnméngjì 19 Commentary

Chapter 19

The cities of refuge, The man-slayer, The murderer. (1-13) Landmarks not to be removed. (14) The punishment of false witnesses. (15-21)

Verses 1-13 Here is the law settled between the blood of the murdered, and the blood of the murderer; provision is made, that the cities of refuge should be a protection, so that a man should not die for that as a crime, which was not his willing act. In Christ, the Lord our Righteousness, refuge is provided for those who by faith flee unto him. But there is no refuge in Jesus Christ for presumptuous sinners, who go on still in their trespasses. Those who flee to Christ from their sins, shall be safe in him, but not those who expect to be sheltered by him in their sins.

Verse 14 Direction is given to fix landmarks in Canaan. It is the will of God that every one should know his own; and that means should be used to hinder the doing and suffering of wrong. This, without doubt, is a moral precept, and still binding. Let every man be content with his own lot, and be just to his neighbours in all things.

Verses 15-21 Sentence should never be passed upon the testimony of one witness alone. A false witness should suffer the same punishment which he sought to have inflicted upon the person he accused. Nor could any law be more just. Let all Christians not only be cautious in bearing witness in public, but be careful not to join in private slanders; and let all whose consciences accuse them of crime, without delay flee for refuge to the hope set before them in Jesus Christ.

This chapter contains an order to separate three cities of refuge in the land of Canaan, for such that killed a man unawares to flee to, of which those who were guilty of murder purposely were to have no benefit, De 19:1-13, a law is given against removing landmarks, De 19:14, and others concerning witnesses, that they should be more than one; be two, or three, De 19:15, and that a false witness, on conviction, should be punished, De 19:16-21.
