1 John 5:19

[And] we know that we are of God
The sons of God, and regenerated by him; this is known by the Spirit of God, which witnesses to the spirits of the saints that they are the children of God; and by the fruits and effects of regenerating grace, as love to the brethren, and the like:

and the whole world lies in wickedness;
that is, the men of the world, the greater part of the inhabitants of it, who are as they were when they came into it, not being born of God; these are addicted to sin and, wickedness; the bias of their minds is to it, they are set upon it, and give themselves up to it, are immersed in it, and are under the power of it: or "in the wicked one"; Satan, the god of this world; they are under his influence, and led according to his will, and they are governed by him, and are at his beck and command; and this is known, by sad experience, it is easy of observation;

``And cannot comprehend the things that are promised to the righteous in time to come: for this world is full of unrighteousness and infirmities.'' (2 Esdras 4:27)

17 凡 不 义 的 事 都 是 罪 ， 也 有 不 至 於 死 的 罪 。

18 我 们 知 道 凡 从 神 生 的 ， 必 不 犯 罪 ， 从 神 生 的 ， 必 保 守 自 己 （ 有 古 卷 作 ： 那 从 神 生 的 必 保 护 他 ） ， 那 恶 者 也 就 无 法 害 他 。

19 我 们 知 道 ， 我 们 是 属 神 的 ， 全 世 界 都 卧 在 那 恶 者 手 下 。

20 我 们 也 知 道 ， 神 的 儿 子 已 经 来 到 ， 且 将 智 慧 赐 给 我 们 ， 使 我 们 认 识 那 位 真 实 的 ， 我 们 也 在 那 位 真 实 的 里 面 ， 就 是 在 他 儿 子 耶 稣 基 督 里 面 。 这 是 真 神 ， 也 是 永 生 。

21 小 子 们 哪 ， 你 们 要 自 守 ， 远 避 偶 像 ！
