Joshua 8:10

And Joshua rose up early in the morning, and numbered the
people
To see if there were any wanting, and to put them in proper order for their march:

and went up, he and the elders of Israel, before the people to Ai;
these elders were either the seventy elders who went with Joshua as council to him; or it may be rather they were inferior officers, who went at the head of their respective corps under them.

8 你 们 夺 了 城 以 後 ， 就 放 火 烧 城 ， 要 照 耶 和 华 的 话 行 。 这 是 我 吩 咐 你 们 的 。

9 约 书 亚 打 发 他 们 前 往 ， 他 们 就 上 埋 伏 的 地 方 去 ， 住 在 伯 特 利 和 艾 城 的 中 间 ， 就 是 在 艾 城 的 西 边 。 这 夜 约 书 亚 却 在 民 中 住 宿 。

11 众 民 ， 就 是 他 所 带 领 的 兵 丁 ， 都 上 去 ， 向 前 直 往 ， 来 到 城 前 ， 在 艾 城 北 边 安 营 。 在 约 书 亚 和 艾 城 中 间 有 一 山 谷 。

12 他 挑 了 约 有 五 千 人 ， 使 他 们 埋 伏 在 伯 特 利 和 艾 城 的 中 间 ， 就 是 在 艾 城 的 西 边 ，
