Job 41:24

24 His heart is firm as a stone, yea, firm as the nether [millstone].

Job 41:24 Meaning and Commentary

Job 41:24

His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of
the nether [millstone].
] Which must be understood not of the substance but of the qualities of it, being bold, courageous, undaunted, and unmerciful; which is true both of the whale and crocodile, and particularly of the crocodile: Aelianus F26 relates of one sort of them that they are unmerciful, though elsewhere F1, he represents them as fearful.

Job 41:24 In-Context

22 In his neck lodgeth strength, and terror danceth before him.
23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are fused upon him, they cannot be moved.
24 His heart is firm as a stone, yea, firm as the nether [millstone].
25 When he raiseth himself up, the mighty are afraid: they are beside themselves with consternation.
26 If any reach him with a sword, it cannot hold; neither spear, nor dart, nor harpoon.
