1 Kings 18:39

And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces
In reverence of God, astonished at the miracle wrought, ashamed of themselves and their sins, particularly their idolatry, that they should turn their backs on the true God, and follow idols:

and they said, the Lord, he is the God, the Lord, he is the God;
which acknowledgment of God, as the true God, in opposition to Baal, is repeated, to show their firm belief and strong assurance of it.

37 Antworte mir, Jehova, antwortete mir, damit dieses Volk wisse, daß du, Jehova, Gott bist, und daß du ihr Herz zurückgewendet hast!

38 Da fiel Feuer Jehovas herab und verzehrte das Brandopfer und das Holz und die Steine und die Erde; und das Wasser, das im Graben war, leckte es auf.

39 Und als das ganze Volk es sah, da fielen sie auf ihr Angesicht und sprachen: Jehova, er ist Gott! Jehova, er ist Gott! -

40 Und Elia sprach zu ihnen: Greifet die Propheten des Baal, keiner von ihnen entrinne! Und sie griffen sie; und Elia führte sie hinab an den Bach Kison und schlachtete sie daselbst.

41 Und Elia sprach zu Ahab: Gehe hinauf, iß und trink, denn es ist ein Rauschen eines gewaltigen Regens.
