13 Und ich sah, daß die Weisheit den Vorzug hat vor der Torheit, gleich dem Vorzuge des Lichtes vor der Finsternis:

Ecclesiastes 2:13

Then I sat that wisdom excelleth folly
However, this upon a review of things he could not but own, that natural wisdom and knowledge, though there was no true happiness and satisfaction in them, yet they greatly exceeded folly and madness; as far as light excelleth darkness;
as the light of the day the darkness of the night; the one is pleasant and delightful, the other very uncomfortable; the one useful to direct in walking, the other very unsafe to walk in: light sometimes signifies joy and prosperity, and darkness adversity; the one is used to express the light of grace, and the other the darkness of sin and ignorance; now as the natural light exceeds darkness, and prosperity exceeds adversity and calamities, and a state of grace exceeds a state of sin and wickedness, so wisdom exceeds folly.

11 Und ich wandte mich hin zu allen meinen Werken, die meine Hände gemacht, und zu der Mühe, womit ich wirkend mich abgemüht hatte: und siehe, das alles war Eitelkeit und ein Haschen nach Wind; und es gibt keinen Gewinn unter der Sonne.

12 Und ich wandte mich, um Weisheit und Unsinn und Torheit zu betrachten. Denn was wird der Mensch tun, der nach dem Könige kommen wird? Was man schon längst getan hat.

13 Und ich sah, daß die Weisheit den Vorzug hat vor der Torheit, gleich dem Vorzuge des Lichtes vor der Finsternis:

14 der Weise hat seine Augen in seinem Kopfe, der Tor aber wandelt in der Finsternis. Und ich erkannte zugleich, daß einerlei Geschick ihnen allen widerfährt;

15 und ich sprach in meinem Herzen: Gleich dem Geschick des Toren wird auch mir widerfahren, und wozu bin ich dann überaus weise gewesen? Und ich sprach in meinem Herzen, daß auch das Eitelkeit sei.
