Song of Solomon 4:7-16

7 1You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no 2flaw in you.
8 3Come with me from 4Lebanon, my 5bride; come with me from 6Lebanon. Depart[a] from the peak of Amana, from the peak of 7Senir and 8Hermon, from the dens of lions, from the mountains of leopards.
9 You have captivated my heart, my 9sister, my bride; you have captivated my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one 10jewel of your necklace.
10 How beautiful is your love, my 11sister, my bride! How much 12better is your love than wine, and 13the fragrance of your oils than any spice!
11 Your 14lips drip nectar, my bride; 15honey and milk are under your tongue; the fragrance of your garments is 16like the fragrance of 17Lebanon.
12 A garden locked is my 18sister, my bride, a spring locked, 19a fountain 20sealed.
13 Your shoots are 21an orchard of pomegranates with all 22choicest fruits, 23henna with 24nard,
14 nard and saffron, 25calamus and 26cinnamon, with all trees of 27frankincense, 28myrrh and 29aloes, with all 30choice spices--
15 a garden fountain, a well of 31living water, and flowing streams from 32Lebanon.
16 Awake, O north wind, and come, O south wind! Blow upon my 33garden, let its spices flow.34Let my beloved come to his 35garden, and eat its 36choicest fruits.

Song of Solomon 4:7-16 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO SONG OF SOLOMON 4

In this chapter is contained a large commendation of the church's beauty by Christ; first, more particularly, by an enumeration of several parts, as her eyes, hair, teeth, lips, temples, neck, and breasts, So 4:1-5; and more generally, So 4:7; And having observed where he himself was determined to go, he invites her to go with him; which he enforces, partly from the danger she was exposed unto where she was So 4:6,8; and partly from the comeliness of her person and graces in his esteem; with which he was ravished, and therefore was extremely desirous of her company, So 4:9-11; And then enters into some new descriptions of her; as a garden and orchard, as a spring and fountain, So 4:12-14; all which she makes to be owing to him, So 4:15; And the chapter is closed with an order from Christ to the winds to blow on his garden, and cause the spices of it to flow out; and with an invitation of the church to Christ, to come into his garden, and relax there, So 4:16.
