27 E quando Achab ebbe udite quelle parole, stracciò i suoi vestimenti, e si mise un sacco sopra le carni e digiunò, e giacque in sacco, e camminava a passo lento.

Ver. 27 And it came to pass when Ahab heard these words
Delivered in ( 1 Kings 21:21-24 ) ,

that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon, his flesh,
tore off his clothes, and stripped himself of all, even of his very shirt, and put sackcloth on his bare flesh, a coarse cloth made of hair, and such as sacks are made with:

and fasted,
how long it is not said:

and lay in sackcloth;
in the night on his bed, would have no linen on him day nor night:

and went softly:
step by step, as persons mourning, grieving, and pensive, do; the Targum renders it "barefoot", and so Jarchi.

25 E veramente non vi era stato ancora alcuno simile ad Achab, il quale si era venduto a far ciò che dispiace al Signore; perciocchè Izebel, sua moglie, l’incitava.
26 Laonde egli fece cose molto abbominevoli, andando dietro agl’idoli, interamente come aveano fatto gli Amorrei, i quali il Signore avea scacciati d’innanzi a’ figliuoli d’Israele.
27 E quando Achab ebbe udite quelle parole, stracciò i suoi vestimenti, e si mise un sacco sopra le carni e digiunò, e giacque in sacco, e camminava a passo lento.
28 E la parola del Signore fu indirizzata ad Elia Tisbita, dicendo:
29 Hai tu veduto come Achab si è umiliato davanti a me? Perciocchè egli si è umiliato davanti a me, io non farò venir quel male a’ suoi dì; io lo farò venir sopra la casa sua, a’ dì del suo figliuolo.
