20 E la mattina seguente, il popolo si levò a buon’ora, ed uscì fuori verso il deserto di Tecoa; e, mentre usciva, Giosafat si fermò, e disse: Ascoltatemi, o Giuda, e voi abitanti di Gerusalemme; credete al Signore Iddio vostro, e voi sarete assicurati; credete a’ profeti di esso, e voi prospererete.

2 Chronicles 20:20

And they rose early in the morning
Being confident of success, animated by what the prophet said to them: and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa;
which, according to Jerom {u}, was six miles from Bethlehem, and nine from Jerusalem, some say twelve, beyond which was nothing but a desert; it was part of the wilderness of Judah: and as they went forth;
out of Jerusalem, through one of the gates of it: Jehoshaphat stood and said, believe in the Lord your God;
in the promises he had made, particularly with respect to the victory over their present enemies; the Targum is,

``in the Word of the Lord your God:''
so shall you be established;
have courage and firmness of mind, as well as be safe and secure: believe his prophets;
sent by him, and that speak in his name, particularly Jahaziel, who had predicted victory to them: so shall ye prosper;
things will succeed to your wishes, and beyond your expectations.

18 Allora Giosafat s’inchinò con la faccia verso terra; e tutto Giuda, e gli abitanti di Gerusalemme, si gittarono giù davanti al Signore, per adorarlo.
19 Ed i Leviti, d’infra i Chehatiti, e i Coriti, si levarono per lodare il Signore Iddio d’Israele ad altissima voce.
20 E la mattina seguente, il popolo si levò a buon’ora, ed uscì fuori verso il deserto di Tecoa; e, mentre usciva, Giosafat si fermò, e disse: Ascoltatemi, o Giuda, e voi abitanti di Gerusalemme; credete al Signore Iddio vostro, e voi sarete assicurati; credete a’ profeti di esso, e voi prospererete.
21 E, tenuto consiglio col popolo, costituì de’ cantori che cantassero al Signore, e lodassero la santa sua Maestà; e camminando dinanzi alla gente di guerra, dicessero: Celebrate il Signore; perciocchè la sua benignità è in eterno.
22 E nel medesimo tempo ch’essi cominciarono il canto di trionfo, e le laudi, il Signore pose agguati fra i figliuoli di Ammon, e i Moabiti, e que’ del monte di Seir, i quali venivano contro a Giuda, ed essi si percossero gli uni gli altri.
