5 Ed ora io ti prego, signora, non come scrivendoti un comandamento nuovo, ma quello che abbiamo avuto dal principio, che amiamo gli uni gli altri.

2 John 1:5

And now I beseech thee, lady
Or "Kyria", which word the Syriac and Arabic versions retain, as if it was a proper name: the apostle having finished the inscription, salutation, and congratulation in the preceding verses, passes to an exhortation and entreaty to observe the commandment of love to one another, which is not a new commandment, but what was from the beginning:

not as though I wrote a new commandment (See Gill on 1 John 2:7) and (See Gill on 1 John 2:8).

3 Grazia, misericordia, e pace, da Dio Padre, e dal Signor Gesù Cristo, Figliuol del Padre, sia con voi, in verità, e carità.

4 IO mi son grandemente rallegrato che ho trovato de’ tuoi figliuoli che camminano in verità, secondo che ne abbiam ricevuto il comandamento dal Padre.

5 Ed ora io ti prego, signora, non come scrivendoti un comandamento nuovo, ma quello che abbiamo avuto dal principio, che amiamo gli uni gli altri.

6 E questa è la carità, che camminiamo secondo i comandamenti d’esso. Quest’è il comandamento, siccome avete udito dal principio, che camminiate in quella.

7 Poichè sono entrati nel mondo molti seduttori, i quali non confessano Gesù Cristo esser venuto in carne; un tale è il seduttore e l’anticristo.
