3 perciocchè dalla moltitudine delle occupazioni procede il sogno, e dalla moltitudine delle parole procede la voce stolta.

Ecclesiastes 5:3

For a dream cometh through the multitude of business
Or, "for as a dream" ^F17, so Aben Ezra; as that comes through a multiplicity of business in the daytime, in which the mind has been busied, and the body employed; and this brings on dreams in the night season, which are confused and incoherent; sometimes the fancy is employed about one thing, and sometimes another, and all unprofitable and useless, as well as vain and foolish; and a fool's voice [is known] by multitude of words;
either his voice in conversation, for a fool is full of words, and pours out his foolishness in a large profusion of them; or his voice in prayer, being like a man's dream, confused, incoherent, and rambling. The supplement, "is known", may be left out.

1 GUARDA il tuo piè, quando tu andrai nella Casa di Dio; ed appressati per ascoltare, anzi che per dar quello che dànno gli stolti, cioè, sacrificio; perciocchè essi, facendo male, non però se ne avveggono.

2 Non esser precipitoso nel tuo parlare, e il tuo cuore non si affretti a proferire alcuna parola nel cospetto di Dio; perciocchè Iddio, è nel cielo, e tu sei in terra; però sieno le tue parole poche;

3 perciocchè dalla moltitudine delle occupazioni procede il sogno, e dalla moltitudine delle parole procede la voce stolta.

4 Quando avrai votato a Dio alcun voto, non indugiare di adempierlo; perciocchè gli stolti non gli son punto grati; adempi ciò che avrai votato.

5 Meglio è che tu non voti, che se tu voti, e non adempi.
