16 E quelli ch’erano stati in cattività fecero così. E il sacerdote Esdra, e i capi delle famiglie paterne, secondo le famiglie loro paterne, tutti nominati per li nomi loro, furono messi da parte; e sedettero al primo giorno del decimo mese, per prender conoscenza del fatto;

Ezra 10:16

And the children of the captivity did so
Put away their strange wives:

and Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house
of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated;
from all their other business, and gave themselves up to attend to this wholly:

and sat down in the first day of the tenth month;
the month Tebeth, which answers to part of December and January; this was ten days after the assembly of all the people met and broke up: these took their places in the great court, and there sat

to examine the matter;
the accounts brought in from the several cities by the magistrates thereof, and recorded them.

14 Ora trovinsi insieme i capi nostri, capi di tutta la raunanza; e con loro sieno gli Anziani, ed i giudici di ciascuna città; e che ogni uomo, d’infra tutti quelli che sono nelle nostre città, che ha menata moglie straniera, venga a’ tempi assegnati; e con loro gli Anziani e i giudici di ciascuna città, finchè abbiamo stornato da noi l’ardore dell’ira dell’Iddio nostro per questa cosa.

15 Or Gionatan, figliuolo di Asael, e Iahazia, figliuolo di Ticva, furono costituiti sopra questo affare; e Mesullam, e Sabbetai, Leviti, aiutarono loro.

17 ed ebbero finito, con tutti quelli che aveano menate mogli straniere, infra il primo giorno del primo mese.

18 E fra i figliuoli de’ sacerdoti, si trovarono questi che aveano menate moglie straniere, cioè, fra i figliuoli di Iesua, figliuolo di Iosadac, e fra i suoi fratelli, Maaseia, ed Eliezer, e Iarib, e Ghedalia;
