17 Questo avvenne al tredicesimo giorno del mese di Adar; poi al quartodecimo dell’istesso mese si riposarono, e celebrarono quel giorno, come giorno di conviti e di letizia.

Esther 9:17

On the thirteenth day of the month Adar
This belongs to the preceding verse; and the meaning is, that on this day the Jews gathered together and slew so many thousand of their enemies as before related:

and on the fourteenth day of the same rested they, and made it a feast
of gladness:
rejoicing that they were delivered out of the hand of their enemies, who hoped and expected on that day to have made an utter end of them; according to the Jewish canons ^F12, mourning and fasting on this day were forbidden, but feasting and gladness were to be multiplied.

15 E i Giudei ch’erano in Susan, si adunarono ancora nel quartodecimo giorno del mese di Adar, ed uccisero in Susan trecent’uomini; ma non misero le mani alla preda.

16 Gli altri Giudei ch’erano nelle provincie del re, si adunarono anch’essi, e stettero alla difesa della lor vita; ed ebbero riposo de’ lor nemici, avendone uccisi settantacinquemila, senza però metter le mani alla preda.

17 Questo avvenne al tredicesimo giorno del mese di Adar; poi al quartodecimo dell’istesso mese si riposarono, e celebrarono quel giorno, come giorno di conviti e di letizia.

18 Ma i Giudei ch’erano in Susan, si raunarono al tredicesimo ed al quartodecimo di quel mese; poi al quintodecimo si riposarono, e celebrarono quel giorno, come giorno di conviti e di letizia.

19 Perciò, i Giudei delle villate che abitano nelle terre non murate, celebrano il quartodecimo giorno del mese di Adar, con allegrezza, e con conviti, e con festa, e con mandar messi di vivande gli uni agli altri.
