18 camminò per lo deserto, e circuì il paese di Edom, e il paese di Moab, e giunse al lato orientale del paese di Moab, e si accampò di là dall’Arnon, e non entrò dentro a’ confini di Moab, consiossiachè l’Arnon sia il confine di Moab.

Judges 11:18

Then they went along the wilderness
The wilderness of Paran, which lay along the borders of Edom; they went, according to Jarchi, from the west to the east on the south border of Edom and Moab:

and compassed the land of Edom, and the land of Moab;
all the south of the land of Edom, and all the south of the land of Moab; towards the sunrising, as in ( Numbers 21:11 )

and pitched on the other side of Arnon;
the river Arnon, which, according to Jarchi, was at the east end of the land of Moab, where began the country of Sihon and Og:

but came not within the border of Moab;
so far were they from attempting to take away any part of that land from the king of it, though ill treated by him:

for Arnon was the border of Moab;
which divided between Moab and the Amorites, ( Numbers 21:13 ) .

16 Anzi, dopo che Israele fu salito fuor di Egitto, e fu camminato per lo deserto fino al mar rosso, e fu giunto a Cades,

17 mandò ambasciatori al re di Edom, a dirgli: Deh! lascia che io passi per lo tuo paese; ma il re di Edom nol consentì; mandò eziandio al re di Moab, e anch’egli non volle. Laonde, dopo che Israele fu dimorato in Cades,

18 camminò per lo deserto, e circuì il paese di Edom, e il paese di Moab, e giunse al lato orientale del paese di Moab, e si accampò di là dall’Arnon, e non entrò dentro a’ confini di Moab, consiossiachè l’Arnon sia il confine di Moab.

19 E Israele mandò ambasciatori a Sihon, re degli Amorrei, re di Hesbon, e dirgli: Deh! lascia che noi passiamo per lo tuo paese, finchè siamo giunti al nostro luogo.

20 Ma Sihon non si fidò d’Israele, ch’egli passasse per li suoi confini; anzi adunò tutta la sua gente, e con essa si accampò in Iaas, e combattè con Israele.
