27 Ed egli disse: Ti prego adunque, o padre, che tu lo mandi in casa di mio padre;

Luke 16:27

Then he said, I pray thee therefore father
The Cambridge, copy of Beza's, and the Ethiopic version read, "father Abraham"; finding he could have no redress of his misery, nor any relief for himself, he applies for others:

that thou wouldst send him to my father's house;
the house of Israel and Jacob, the surviving Jews: and this agrees also with a notion of theirs, that the dead seek for mercy for them F12. The Persic and Ethiopic versions read, "that thou wouldst send Lazarus", &c. whom the one calls Gazarus, and the other Eleazar.

25 Ma Abrahamo disse: Figliuolo, ricordati che tu hai ricevuti i tuoi beni in vita tua, e Lazaro altresì i mali; ma ora egli è consolato, e tu sei tormentato.
26 Ed oltre a tutto ciò, fra noi e voi è posta una gran voragine, talchè coloro che vorrebbero di qui passare a voi non possono; parimente coloro che son di là non passano a noi.
27 Ed egli disse: Ti prego adunque, o padre, che tu lo mandi in casa di mio padre;
28 perciocchè io ho cinque fratelli; acciocchè testifichi loro; che talora anch’essi non vengano in questo luogo di tormento.
29 Abrahamo gli disse: Hanno Mosè i profeti, ascoltin quelli.
