Mark 12:3

And they caught him
This clause is left out in the Syriac and Persic versions, though it seems proper to be retained; and denotes the rudeness and violence with which the prophets of the Lord were used by the Jewish nation:

and beat him:
either with their fists, or with rods, and scourges, till the skin was flayed off:

and sent him away empty;
without any fruit to carry with him, or give an account of, to the owner of the vineyard.

Marco 12:3 In-Context

1 POI egli prese a dir loro in parabole: Un uomo piantò una vigna, e le fece attorno una siepe, e cavò in essa un luogo da calcar la vendemmia, e vi edificò una torre, e l’allogò a certi lavoratori; e poi se ne andò in viaggio.
2 E nella stagion de’ frutti, mandò a que’ lavoratori un servitore, per ricever da loro del frutto della vigna.
3 Ma essi, presolo, lo batterono, e lo rimandarono vuoto.
4 Ed egli di nuovo vi mandò un altro servitore; ma essi, tratte anche a lui delle pietre, lo ferirono nel capo, e lo rimandarono vituperato.
5 Ed egli da capo ne mandò un altro, e quello uccisero; poi molti altri, de’ quali alcuni batterono, alcuni uccisero.
