Marco 15:37 Meaning and Commentary

Mark 15:37

And Jesus cried with a loud voice
A second time, and said the words which are in ( Luke 23:46 ) and in ( John 19:30 )

and gave up the ghost.
The Syriac version renders it, "and finished": his life, his days, his race, his ministry, and the work which was given him to do; (See Gill on Matthew 27:50).

35 Ed alcuni di coloro ch’eran quivi presenti, udito ciò, dicevano: Ecco, egli chiama Elia.
36 E un di loro corse; ed empiuta una spugna d’aceto, e postala intorno ad una canna, gli diè da bere, dicendo: Lasciate; vediamo se Elia verrà, per trarlo giù.
37 E Gesù, gettato un gran grido, rendè lo spirito.
38 E la cortina del tempio si fendè in due, da cima a fondo.
39 E il centurione, ch’era quivi presente di rincontro a Gesù, veduto che dopo aver così gridato, egli avea reso lo spirito, disse: Veramente quest’uomo era Figliuol di Dio.
