Neemia 4:14

14 E dopo ch’ebbi così provveduto, mi levai, e dissi agli uomini notabili, ed ai magistrati, ed al rimanente del popolo: Non temiate di loro; ricordatevi del Signore grande e tremendo; e combattete per li vostri fratelli, per li vostri figliuoli e figliuole, e per le vostre mogli, e per le vostre case.

Nehemiah 4:14

And I looked
Took a view of the people, and observed that they were in their proper place, and sufficiently armed, and also whether the enemy was coming:

and rose up and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the
rest of the people;
who were under their nobles and rulers, as their captains and commanders:

be not ye afraid of them;
of their enemies, their numbers, and their threats:

remember the Lord, which is great and terrible;
who is greater than they, and is to be feared and trusted in by his people, and is terrible even to the kings of the earth:

and fight for your brethren, your sons and your daughters, your wives
and your houses;
intimating, that they were in danger of losing all that was near and dear, valuable and precious to them, if they did not fight for them; and therefore it became them to quit themselves like men, and be strong.

12 Ma i Giudei che dimoravano fra loro, venendo a noi, ci dissero per dieci volte: Guardatevi da tutti i luoghi per li quali voi andate e venite a noi.

13 Allora io disposi il popolo, secondo le sue famiglie, con le sue spade, lance, ed archi, nel fondo di que’ luoghi, dietro al muro, e in su i greppi.

15 Ora, quando i nostri nemici ebbero inteso che la cosa ci era venuta a notizia, Iddio dissipò il lor consiglio, e tutti noi ritornammo alle mura, ciascuno al suo lavoro.

16 E da quel dì innanzi, la metà de’ miei fanti lavorava, e l’altra metà stava in armi, con lance, scudi, archi, e corazze; e i capi erano dietro ad ogni famiglia di Giuda.
