Rut 4:13-17

Listen to Rut 4:13-17
13 Booz adunque prese Rut, ed ella gli fu moglie: ed egli entrò da lei, e il Signore le fece grazia d’ingravidare; e partorì un figliuolo.
14 E le donne dissero a Naomi: Benedetto sia il Signore, il quale non ha permesso che oggi ti sia mancato uno che avesse la ragione della consanguinitĂ ; il cui nome sia celebrato in Israele.
15 E siati esso per ristorarti l’anima, e per sostentar la tua vecchiezza; conciossiachè la tua nuora, la qual ti ama, e ti val meglio che sette figliuoli, abbia partorito questo fanciullo.
16 E Naomi prese il fanciullo, e se lo recò al seno, e gli fu in luogo di balia.
17 E le vicine gli posero nome, quando fu detto: Un figliuolo è nato a Naomi; e lo chiamarono Obed. Esso fu padre d’Isai, padre di Davide.

INTRODUCTION TO RUTH 4

This chapter relates how an offer was made to the nearest kinsman of Ruth to redeem her, and the field her husband left, which he refused to do, Ru 4:1-8, upon which Boaz redeemed both, and married Ruth before the elders of the city as witnesses, and who congratulated him and her on that occasion, Ru 4:9-12, to whom a son was born, called Obed by the neighbours, Ru 4:13-17 and the chapter is concluded with the genealogy of David, who sprung from him, Ru 4:18-22.
