Romani 4:12

12 e padre della circoncisione, a rispetto di coloro che non solo son della circoncisione, ma eziandio seguono le pedate della fede del padre nostro Abrahamo, la quale egli ebbe mentre era nell’incirconcisione.

Romans 4:12

And the father of circumcision
So the Jews call Abraham (Mylwmynh var) ^F12, "the head of those that are circumcised"; and (Mylwml var) ^F13, "the head to them that are circumcised"; but the apostle here says, he is a father

to them who are not of the circumcision only;
not to the Jews only, in a spiritual sense, and not to all of them, since some were "of Israel", who were not Israel, not Israelites indeed, or true believers;

but [to such] also [who] walk in the steps of that faith of our
father Abraham, which he had, being yet uncircumcised;
that is, who have the same faith he had; imitate and follow him in the exercise of faith; walk by faith, as he did when he was uncircumcised, as they are; and so the Jews say ^F14,

``Abraham is the father of all, (wtnwmab wyrxa Myab) , "that go after him in his faith".''

10 In che modo dunque gli fu ella imputata? mentre egli era nella circoncisione, o mentre era nell’incirconcisione? non mentre era nella circoncisione, anzi nell’incirconcisione.

11 Poi ricevette il segno della circoncisione, suggello della giustizia della fede, la quale egli avea avuta, mentre egli era nell’incirconcisione, affin d’esser padre di tutti coloro che credono, essendo nell’incirconcisione, acciocchè ancora a loro sia imputata la giustizia;

12 e padre della circoncisione, a rispetto di coloro che non solo son della circoncisione, ma eziandio seguono le pedate della fede del padre nostro Abrahamo, la quale egli ebbe mentre era nell’incirconcisione.

13 Perciocchè la promessa d’essere erede del mondo non fu fatta ad Abrahamo, od alla sua progenie per la legge, ma per la giustizia della fede.

14 Poichè, se coloro che son della legge sono eredi, la fede è svanita, e la promessa annullata;
