Psalms 144:4

Man is like to vanity
Is vanity itself, in every age, state, and condition; yea, in his best estate, ( Psalms 39:5 ) ; or, "to the breath" ^F8 of the mouth, as Kimchi; which is gone as soon as seen almost: or, to a vapour ^F9; to which the life of man is compared, ( James 4:14 ) ; his days [are] as a shadow that passeth away;
as the former denotes the frailty and mortality of man, this the shortness of his duration; his days fleeing away, and of no more continuance than the shadow cast by the sun, which presently declines and is gone.

2 Egli è la mia benignità e la mia fortezza; Il mio alto ricetto ed il mio liberatore; Egli è il mio scudo, ed io mi confido in lui; Egli è quello che abbatte i popoli sotto me.

3 O Signore, che cosa è l’uomo, che tu ne abbi cura? Che cosa è il figliuol dell’uomo, che tu ne faccia conto?

4 L’uomo è simile a vanità; I suoi giorni son come l’ombra che passa.

5 Signore, abbassa i tuoi cieli, e scendi; Tocca i monti, e fa’ che fumino.

6 Vibra il folgore, e dissipa quella gente; Avventa le tua saette, e mettili in rotta.
