They began saying to each other, “Let’s make bricks and harden them with fire.” (In this region bricks were used instead of stone, and tar was used for mortar.)

And they said one to another, Come on, let us make bricks, and burn [them] thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar.

Und sie sprachen einer zum anderen: Wohlan, laßt uns Ziegel streichen und hart brennen! Und der Ziegel diente ihnen als Stein, und das Erdharz diente ihnen als Mörtel.

Y dijeron los unos a los otros: Dad acá, hagamos ladrillo y cozámoslo con fuego. Y les fue el ladrillo en lugar de piedra, y el betún en lugar de mezcla

And a man said to his neighbour, Come, let us make bricks and bake them with fire. And the brick was to them for stone, and their mortar was bitumen.

They said to each other, "Come. Let's make bricks and bake them well." They used bricks instead of stones. They used tar to hold the bricks together.

Comenzaron a decirse unos a otros: «Vamos a hacer ladrillos y endurecerlos con fuego». (En esa región, se usaban ladrillos en lugar de piedra y la brea se usaba como mezcla).

Un día se dijeron unos a otros: «Vamos a hacer ladrillos, y a cocerlos al fuego». Fue así como usaron ladrillos en vez de piedras, y asfalto en vez de mezcla.

And each one said to his neighbour: Come let us make brick, and bake them with fire. And they had brick instead of stones, and slime instead of mortar:

And one said to his neighbour (And they said to one another), Come ye, and make we tilestones, and bake we those with fire; and they had tile for stones, and pitch, either strong glue, for mortar;

and they say each one to his neighbour, `Give help, let us make bricks, and burn [them] thoroughly:' and the brick is to them for stone, and the bitumen hath been to them for mortar.
