33 and I brought you out of Egypt to become your God. I am the Lord."

Leviticus 22:33 Meaning and Commentary

Leviticus 22:33

That brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God,
&c.] Whereby he showed himself to be their covenant God and Father, who had a kind and gracious regard unto them, and which laid them under obligation to fear, serve, and worship him as their God: I [am] the Lord;
that hath sovereign right unto them, and claim upon them, and therefore they ought to be subject to his will, and observe his laws ordinances.

Leviticus 22:33 In-Context

31 The Lord said, "Obey my commands; I am the Lord.
32 Do not bring disgrace on my holy name; all the people of Israel must acknowledge me to be holy. I am the Lord and I make you holy;
33 and I brought you out of Egypt to become your God. I am the Lord."
