there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife;
Sarah had been buried there thirty eight years before, which was the reason why his sons buried, him there; if he died in Beersheba, as seems probable, see ( Genesis 24:62 Genesis 24:67 ) ; from thence to Hebron were sixteen miles F8; so far was he carried to be interred.

8 Avraham gave up the spirit, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full, and was gathered to his people.
9 Yitzchak and Yishma'el, his sons, buried him in the cave of Makhpelah, in the field of `Efron, the son of Tzochar the Hittite, which is before Mamre,

11 It happened after the death of Avraham, that God blessed Yitzchak, his son. Yitzchak lived by Be'er-Lachai-Ro'i.
12 Now this is the history of the generations of Yishma'el, Avraham's son, whom Hagar the Mitzrian, Sarah's handmaid, bore to Avraham.
