Isaiah 40:25 Meaning and Commentary

Isaiah 40:25

Holy One?
] Or be upon a level with? since the greatest of men on earth are brought to nothing by him, and are no more: this is repeated from ( Isaiah 40:18 ) and supported with fresh strength of argument, to show that there is nothing whatever, that is a fit likeness and similitude, by which to represent the Lord.

Isaiah 40:25 In-Context

23 who brings princes to nothing; who makes the judges of the eretz as vanity.
24 Yes, they have not been planted; yes, they have not been sown; yes, their stock has not taken root in the eretz: moreover he blows on them, and they wither, and the whirlwind takes them away as stubble.
25 To whom then will you liken me, that I should be equal [to him]? says the Holy One.
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these, who brings out their host by number; he calls them all by name; by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power, not one is lacking.
27 Why say you, Ya`akov, and speak, Yisra'el, My way is hid from the LORD, and the justice [due] to me is passed away from my God?
