15 Y no oyó el rey al pueblo; porque era ordenación del SEÑOR, para confirmar su palabra, que el SEÑOR había hablado por medio de Ahías, el silonita a Jeroboam hijo de Nabat

1 Kings 12:15

Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people
To lessen their taxes, and ease them of their burdens, as they desired:

for the cause was from the Lord;
it was according to his will and appointment; the defection of the people was willed by the Lord, and various things in Providence turned up to alienate their minds from Rehoboam, and dispose them to a revolt from him in favour of Jeroboam; and the Lord suffered the counsellors of Rehoboam to give him the advice they did, and gave him up to the folly of his own heart to take it:

that he might perform his saying, which the Lord spake to Ahijah
the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat;

13 Y el rey respondió al pueblo duramente, desechando el consejo de los ancianos que ellos le habían dado

14 y les habló conforme al consejo de los jóvenes, diciendo: Mi padre agravó vuestro yugo, pero yo añadiré a vuestro yugo; mi padre os castigó con azotes, mas yo os castigaré con escorpiones

15 Y no oyó el rey al pueblo; porque era ordenación del SEÑOR, para confirmar su palabra, que el SEÑOR había hablado por medio de Ahías, el silonita a Jeroboam hijo de Nabat

16 Y cuando todo el pueblo vio que el rey no les había oído, le respondió estas palabras, diciendo: ¿Qué parte tenemos nosotros con David? No hay heredad en el hijo de Jessé. ¡Israel, a tus estancias! ¡Provee ahora en tu casa, David! Entonces Israel se fue a sus estancias
