Judges 17:6

In those days there was no king in Israel
That is, no supreme magistrate, judge, or ruler, Joshua being dead and Caleb also, and the elders contemporary with them; for what the Samaritan Chronicle says ^F12 is without foundation, that Joshua a little before his death cast a lot in the presence of the congregation, to know who should govern after him, and the lot came to one Abel, of the tribe of Judah:

[but] every man did that which was right in his own eyes;
which accounts for the idolatry of Micah, there being no supreme magistrate to take cognizance of his sin, and restrain him from it, or punish him for it according to the law of God.

4 Mas él devolvió a su madre el dinero, tomó su madre doscientos siclos de plata, y los dio al fundidor; y él le hizo de ellos una imagen de talla y una de fundición, la cual fue puesta en casa de Micaía

5 Y tuvo este hombre Micaía burdel de idolatría, y se hizo hacer efod y terafín (los vasos, vestidos e instrumentos pertenecientes al culto idolátrico), y consagró uno de sus hijos; y le fue por sacerdote

6 En estos días no había rey en Israel; cada uno hacía como mejor le parecía

7 Y había un joven de Belén de Judá, de la familia de Judá, el cual era levita; y peregrinaba allí

8 Este varón había partido de la ciudad de Belén de Judá, para ir a vivir donde hallara lugar; y llegando al monte de Efraín, vino a casa de Micaía, para de allí hacer su camino
