Leviticus 26:35

As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest
From tillage, neither man nor beast working upon it; for which reason such a space of time was called a sabbath: because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when you dwelt upon it;
they manured and tilled it on the seventh years, as on others, neglecting the command which God had given them; and this they did not once or twice, but many times, while they were dwellers in the land; which seems to confirm pretty much the notion of their having omitted so many years, though that cannot be affirmed with certainty; see Jarchi on the place.

33 y a vosotros os esparciré por los gentiles, y desenvainaré espada en pos de vosotros; y vuestra tierra estará asolada, y desiertas vuestras ciudades

34 Entonces la tierra reposará sus sábados todos los días que estuviere asolada, mientras vosotros estéis en la tierra de vuestros enemigos; la tierra descansará entonces y gozará sus sábados

35 Todo el tiempo que estará asolada, reposará lo que no reposó en vuestros sábados mientras habitabais en ella

36 Y a los que quedaren de vosotros infundiré en sus corazones tal cobardía, en la tierra de sus enemigos, que el sonido de una hoja movida los perseguirá, y huirán como de la espada, y caerán sin que nadie los persiga

37 Y tropezarán los unos con los otros, como si huyeran delante de la espada, aunque nadie los persiga; y no podréis resistir delante de vuestros enemigos
